Growing produce is a craft. It involves techniques that are refined with time, experience, and dedication to learning. Thoughtful growing nurtures plants from the soil up, while utilizing symbiotic relationships within the ecosystem. These are the principles that Old Sol lives by. By growing produce responsibly, our practices are more sustainable and harvests more bountiful. In other words, the vegetables are good… real good.

Over the years our relationship to our food and the land it comes from has diminished. The fast-paced, globalized world we live in has played a significant role in this trend. Here at Old Sol we believe it’s time to take a few steps back and reconnect to one of the most important aspects of our lives – food. Food is what nourishes our bodies and supports our wellbeing. As food eaters we should be connected to the growing process from seed to harvest to table. That’s where we come in.

Old Sol Produce is a small vegetable farm in Wesley Chapel, NC just outside of Matthews. We are dedicated to responsibly growing quality produce for local customers, while connecting the food consumer to the grower and growing process.

Spring through fall we will grow a variety of seasonable vegetables and herbs including broccoli, carrots, cilantro, kale, lettuce, peppers, tomatoes and more. We will have a number of opportunities throughout the season for you to get to know the garden and grower.

Old Sol Produce is owned and operated by a guitar pickin, nature lovin Charlotte native, Mikey Cristiano. Mikey graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2015 with a degree in Public Health and concentration in nutrition. Combining his passions for public wellness, the environment, and his newfound love for farming, Mikey created Old Sol Produce. Through this journey he wants to share his farming experience with others and launch a small start to his future career.
